Beijing Shijitan Hospital is a Third-level First-class general hospital. It is also the ninth clinical medical college of Peking University, and clinical cancer center of Capital Medical University. The hospital located in the southern of Haidian District, just across the street from Beijing West Railway Station, and China Millennium Monument to the north. This hospital is founded in April 1939, with 70 years of history.

Beijing Shijitan Hospital is the former Beijing Railway General hospital, was one of the most famous hospitals in Beijing since 1950s. Designated as a “Baby Friendly hospital” by WHO in April 1994, and “National Hospital PARKnSHOP” by Ministry of Health in July 2000. On May 28th 2005, the hospital was transferred from Ministry of Railway to Beijing Health Bureau, renamed as Beijing Shijitan Hospital.

Beijing Shijitan Hospital has great medical team, with 167 chief and deputy chief physicians working in 27 clinical departments and 10 medical auxiliary departments, serve about 13100 inpatient admissions annually with 850 beds and 3600 outpatient and emergency patients’ visits per-day. It is recognized leaders in many specialties such as Laparoscopic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, oncology, bone tumor and gynecologic ovarian cancer treatment, Chemotherapy with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in medical oncology, chemotherapy of hematonosis in pediatrics, and also in Thrombolytic Therapy of Neurology, Interventional Cardiology/Cardiac Catheterization Program, the facial nerve paralysis treatment, the ophthalmology, Chinese traditional orthopedics massage, pathological diagnosis of lymphoma and medical lab.

There are lots of modernized large-scale medical facilities in our hospital; some of them reach to the domestic top level.

We undertake the graduate programs in conjunction with the Peking University medical science center and Capital Medical University. At present, there are nice medical MS degree bases and one PhD base in our hospital.
